Girls’ Weekend in Northern Michigan

Good Morning! I’m back to reality after a trip to Northern Michigan with my friends Katelyn, Ashley and Valerie. I had a bit of a rocky start to my trip with two delayed flights which got me there 24 hours after I had initially planned, but it was worth the wait. In the end the trip was filled with lots of fun, relaxation, adventure, good food and drinks!

Seattle + Christmas Decorating and Hamilton

Good Morning!

It’s been a fun-filled week, so let’s catch up and I’ll fill you in. I’m definitely the fact that it’s Monday today and we’re all fighting colds at our house so let’s recap the goodness that was this past week and weekend.

I spent Tuesday-Friday last week traveling to Seattle for work, which was a blast. I’m extremely lucky to enjoy the people I work with and also love my job. The trip was filled with successful meetings and a lot of fun in my free time. [Read more…]

A Much Needed Break in Portland

Good Morning!

We spent this past week off the coast of Oregon. We went in with no plans beyond our flight, rental car, hotel and attending my cousin’s wedding. After an especially busy Fall, I was ready for a weekend of spontaneity. So I left my usual planner mentality and told Rich that we were just going to go with the flow. [Read more…]

Mom Talk: Lessons Learned While Traveling with a Baby

Good Morning!

I’m continuing along with my Mom Talk series with a topic that I’ve been getting a lot of questions on- traveling with a baby! Earlier in the month we took both a road trip and Buel’s first flight, so I thought now would be a good time to share some things I’ve learned around the way. [Read more…]

Best Bites of New York City

IMG_2272

Good Morning!

Let’s be honest, the real reason why we we went to New York City was to eat our way through the city. Admittedly I was a little nervous about doing this with a 10 month old baby, but every place we went was baby friendly.

In general we ate breakfast early before the brunch crowd and dinner early which I think helped. We only had one incident where other diners looked at us like we were nuts bringing a baby into a restaurant. More often than not, people smiled at us and said it was great we had Buel with us. I’m happy we brought him and am pleasantly surprised we pulled off such a great foodie trip. [Read more…]

Our Trip to NYC: What We Saw

Manhattan

Good Morning!

We are back to normal life today after a full ten days off work. We spent the first three days in New York City celebrating my 30th Birthday, came home for two days and then drove to Michigan for Labor Day weekend. It was whirlwind, but so refreshing to spend a full ten days together as a family.

Our trip to NYC went perfectly and we found a good system. Every day we would get up early with Buel and then venture out to explore with breaks to eat. We were able to fit in several great meals, see several neighborhoods by foot and were able to see a lot of the city. Even though the trip was only three days, we packed in so much that I’ll be sharing in two parts. First up, the sights! [Read more…]

Forever and Always, Go Blue

Good Afternoon!

I hope you’re having a great Labor Day! I am currently relaxing on the couch while Buel naps and avoiding the load of laundry that needs to be put away. After being on the move for the past week and a half, it has felt nice to sit for a bit.

This morning started bright and early as Rich had to work and our construction crew surprisingly showed up at their normal 7:00am hour. I made the best of it and headed out for a walk, but was more than happy to enjoy some time to myself mid-day. I dropped Buel off with his grandparents and met my friend Denise to see Bad Moms after a full two months of trying to align our schedules. The movie was hilarious, but sitting in the quiet for ninety minutes was the best part.

This afternoon I’m stopping by to share some pictures of the tail end of our vacation. We road tripped to Michigan for the Wolverines’ home opener and to spend time with my family.

Things I’m Enjoying Lately: July 2016

Good Evening!

How is your week going? It’s been a chaotic week over here, but we’re making it. My week started off with a visit the new-ish Chicago Google office and dinner at the new-ish Swift and Sons on Monday night. I signed the documents to close on my childhood home today and this evening at our home we’re finalizing our project plan with our contractor so things are about to get hectic. However, compared to the past few months it seems like things are calming down and we are starting to be able to slow down and enjoy summer.

Today I thought I would stop in and share some things I’m enjoying lately. I’m hoping to make these posts a monthly thing since I constantly have a running list of things I want to share with you all.

Republic Tavern Detroit

Detroit will always have a place in my heart. This past weekend, we were in town taking care of things with my Dad’s estate and I also was able to celebrate my friend Liz’s wedding shower and bachelorette party. It was a bittersweet weekend, but it was a great reminder of the amazing people in my life.

For the bachelorette party, we went to dinner at one of the hottest restaurants in Detroit, Republic Tavern. It was in a historic building that my Dad’s company just so happened to help renovate, which was so special to see. He was so proud of this job and to help with the efforts to bring Detroit back to it’s glory. It was so fun to see how it turned out and the restaurant was spectacular.
