A Look Back on My Goals

Good Morning!

Year after year I’ve set big goals for myself in January. Typically they are unattainable but they always lead me to push myself to work hard. As the new year approaches, however, I have yet to find the motivation to do anything big and exciting. I thought today it might be fun to take a look back at goals I’ve set the past few years to spark something for 2017.

There’s still time to make a change in 2013!


I woke up today to a call canceling a massage appointment with my Physical Therapist. I took this as a sign and decided to not reset my alarm and sleep until I woke up. I slept until 10:30, then did some yoga and spent the rest of day watching episodes of Scandal relaxing on the couch. And now, my cold is starting to go away! In 2013, one small change I made was learning to listen to my body and relax when needed. Now it’s a habit and I plan on continuing it in 2014.

I have to admit, I was originally going to “save” these ideas for tomorrow. Then with all of the “2014 goals” posts I got anxious to post mine but realized that I still have one day left in the year.

Here are some things I suggest you to do to make a change on the last day of the year to improve your 2013, these little things add up and I think it’s important to end the year on a positive, intentional note! [Read more…]

13 for 2013 Goals Recap

At the beginning of the year, I set out to reach thirteen goals in 2013. I may not have reached all my goals, but 2013 taught me that most of life you cannot control and I’m happy with everything I learned. So, for accountability’s sake, here’s how the year turned out and what I learned from it.

Third Quarter Check-In

Good Evening!

My work life operates by quarter and since today is the last day of the third quarter of the year, it reminded me that we’re a third of the way through the year! I thought now would be a good time to check in on my 2013 goals, so here we go…


1. Continue to improve Live Half Full. – You guys, I’m pretty proud of how much my little piece of the internet has grown in 2013! I feel like I’ve found a good blogging grove and I’m so happy with all of the opportunities blogging has brought me this year.

2. Complete my first sprint triathlon!- My training is complete and now I just have to rock the race on Saturday!

3. Continue to make “me” time a priority. – I’ve definitely found a good balance between time with Rich, work, workouts, time with friends and “me” time. With a little organization and planning, this is pretty easy!

4. Get closer to my goal weight.- This is one area where my view has changed in 2013. My focus has shifted from being at my “goal weight” to finding balance and taking care of my body. My injury was a huge influence in this change and now I’m just happy to be back to running, swimming, biking and lifting again. I’m not so much focused on my weight, but with what my body can accomplish.

5. Focus on eating clean 100% of the time.- This is another area where my view has changed. While eating clean makes me feel my best, I can’t live without beer, ice cream and nights out with my husband and friends. Going to Europe made me really think about how I eat and helped further change my eating. My body knows what it wants and honoring my craving and how my body feels is my new goal.
