Girls’ Weekend in Northern Michigan

Good Morning! I’m back to reality after a trip to Northern Michigan with my friends Katelyn, Ashley and Valerie. I had a bit of a rocky start to my trip with two delayed flights which got me there 24 hours after I had initially planned, but it was worth the wait. In the end the trip was filled with lots of fun, relaxation, adventure, good food and drinks!

New and Old Traditions in Michigan

Good Morning!

I’m back to the grind after my first long weekend of a three week span. We kicked off our Christmas celebrations by taking a quick trip to Michigan. It was a bittersweet time and we missed my Dad a lot, but were able to make the best of it by carrying on old traditions and starting some new ones as well.

Forever and Always, Go Blue

Good Afternoon!

I hope you’re having a great Labor Day! I am currently relaxing on the couch while Buel naps and avoiding the load of laundry that needs to be put away. After being on the move for the past week and a half, it has felt nice to sit for a bit.

This morning started bright and early as Rich had to work and our construction crew surprisingly showed up at their normal 7:00am hour. I made the best of it and headed out for a walk, but was more than happy to enjoy some time to myself mid-day. I dropped Buel off with his grandparents and met my friend Denise to see Bad Moms after a full two months of trying to align our schedules. The movie was hilarious, but sitting in the quiet for ninety minutes was the best part.

This afternoon I’m stopping by to share some pictures of the tail end of our vacation. We road tripped to Michigan for the Wolverines’ home opener and to spend time with my family.

Republic Tavern Detroit

Detroit will always have a place in my heart. This past weekend, we were in town taking care of things with my Dad’s estate and I also was able to celebrate my friend Liz’s wedding shower and bachelorette party. It was a bittersweet weekend, but it was a great reminder of the amazing people in my life.

For the bachelorette party, we went to dinner at one of the hottest restaurants in Detroit, Republic Tavern. It was in a historic building that my Dad’s company just so happened to help renovate, which was so special to see. He was so proud of this job and to help with the efforts to bring Detroit back to it’s glory. It was so fun to see how it turned out and the restaurant was spectacular.

Christmas in Michigan

Good Evening!

We are back from our annual pre-Christmas trip to Michigan! We drove out last Tuesday and got back yesterday evening. The six days were a whirlwind and this year’s trip was extra special. It will be one that I will remember for years to come!

While we were there my blog hosting crashed and the site was down for a full 48 hours. I took that as a sign to unplug and loved the break so much that I am going to dial back the next few weeks to take some to truly enjoy the holidays.

This post is a bit of a photo dump, but I had to document it all. I hope you like baby pictures!

Celebrating the Mom-To-Bee

The older and older I get, the more I realize how much I hit the jackpot when it comes to my family and friends. Sunday was one of those days that reminded me of this fact as I looked around the room at our second baby shower in Michigan.

Steph’s Baby Shower in Michigan

As I mentioned yesterday, I took a whirlwind trip to Michigan over the weekend to attend my friend Stephanie’s Baby Shower! You may remember her from her Bachelorette Party in Disney last May, Wedding Shower last June and her Wedding last August. As you can see, it’s been a busy year for her and her husband Art and I couldn’t be happier for her!

Stephanie and Art’s Wedding Weekend

Good Evening!

This week continues to be crazy, but I could not wait to share some pictures from the wedding I was in this past weekend! It was an exhausting weekend both mentally and physically but one of those weekends that leaves you so happy. I love having the type of friends who I can see after months of being apart and not skip a beat. These friends are truly my family and I could not be happier for Stephanie and Art. This weekend made me SO proud and SO happy for my best friend. I may have even cried when I left her on Sunday. Anyway, time for some pictures! 🙂

One of my best friends from High School, Ashley, did our makeup that morning. She rocks! (and just broke her leg, so send happy healing vibes her way!) [Read more…]

Slows Bar BQ Detroit

Good Afternoon!

Over the weekend, my Dad, Rich and I visited a Detroit restaurant that has been on my “must visit” list for ages, Slows BBQ!

Slows is an eight year old restaurant located in the Corktown neighbor of Detroit, just a short distance from Tiger’s Stadium. It is very popular for a pre-game meal and just as popular for people making special trips just to get their BBQ fix. [Read more…]
