A Letter to Myself One Year Ago

Last year on this day, I had my last living conversation with my Dad. Looking back, it is a conversation I will always cherish. This past year I have learned so much and if I could go back in time, here’s what I would tell my myself. [Read more…]

How We’re Doing

Good Evening!

We are back home after a whirlwind eleven days and it is very bittersweet. We have kept so busy that both Rich and I are kind of bracing ourselves for things to hit us. In the meantime though, we’re just exhausted.

A To Do List For A Happy Life

First of all, thanks so much for all of the kind words and thoughts. This week has been one of the hardest in my life but also a time where I have found clarity as to what matters to me. While both of my parents died too soon, they were both examples of lives that were truly lived.

Everyone I talk to tells me how strong I am, but the truth is I have no choice. I can either accept what happened and solider on or let it defeat me. That is not an option. Instead, I’ve kept myself busy handling the arrangements and the logistics of handling selling my father’s company and his estate. At 29 years old, this all feel much too adult to handle but at the same time it’s what I have to do. And for Buel’s sake, I am able to take a break from all of the overwhelming talks to be with him and laugh. He’s been our saving grace.

Instead of letting the situation destroy me, what I have found is clarity to continue to live my life according to the example they set for me. Today, we celebrate my Dad’s life and I thought I would share the thoughts I plan on reading at his service. Wish me luck.

6 Important Things My Dad Taught Me About Life

Good Morning!

Today is another very special day- it’s my Dad’s 60th Birthday! Everyone says it, but my Dad truly is the best Dad out there. I am very lucky to have had his example in my life to make me who I am today. Today I though I would share some of the things he taught me, maybe without even realizing it.

Happy Father’s Day and Meal Plan 6/15-6/21

Good Morning and Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there, especially the BEST Dad!

This picture is one of my favorite pictures from my wedding day, but now its especially meaningful to me because my Dad had to put his dog Buddy down this past week. He was a great dog and we will miss him dearly! My Dad has been through a lot of hardships in his life and watching him go through each of them was the best lesson he could have ever taught me. My Dad is one of the hardest working people I have ever met, never gives up and starts each day with a smile on his face. He’s an inspiration to me and has made me who I am today!

Today we’ll be celebrating Father’s Day with my in-laws with dinner on the grill. It should be a nice and relaxing evening, I hope yours is the same!

Here’s this week’s meal plan: [Read more…]

Thinking Out Loud Thursday

Good Evening!

This week has felt like my mind has been all over the place, so we’re going with that today and linking up with Amanda!

1. Last night, my Dad was in town for work and he took us out for dinner. I took the night off from my cellphone, computer and all social media and it felt awesome.

2. Getting back into running is hard. I’ve been diligent with my workouts, but it’s tough getting back into it. I’ve been trucking along on my run/walk workouts, slowing increasing the time I run. I’m taking it slow though and have no doubt I’ll finish my 5k in May, but man running is a lot harder than I remember!

3. I was really excited when I read this article earlier today. This is the first time that Synchronized Skating has been mentioned in writing as part of the Olympics and it would be so amazing if it was added in 2018. If so, I will definitely make a trip to be there.

4. Six weeks from today I’ll be going to Disney World for a Bachelorette weekend to celebrate my friend Stephanie. I can’t wait for pool time, nights out with my girls and a trip around the world at Epcot!

5. Tomorrow I have my monthly book club meeting and we’ll be discussing The Signature of All Things, I have not finished the book yet so I’ll be focusing more on the wine portion of the evening. Has anyone read the book? Care to fill me in?

Now it’s time for you to fill me in on your week- tell me one thing that’s on your mind!
