Last month I conducted my second annual reader survey. Just like last year, the results gave me some clarity to take into 2018 and I’m so grateful for everyone who took time to share their thoughts!
Now, let’s get to the results!Do you write a blog?
How did you find Live Half Full?
There was no same answer on this question- but the common themes were other blogs and online searches.
How do you find out about new posts on Live Half Full?
How often do you visit Live Half Full?
This was super nice to see- thanks so much for being loyal readers!
How long have you been reading Live Half Full?
This was interesting to me! It seems that a lot of Moms found me this year, which makes me happy. It was a tough decision to focus my blog, but I am glad I did.
How do you feel about the current frequency of posts on Live Half Full?
Great to see! Gone are the days of having time to post five posts per week. I have found a sweet spot this year of 2-3 posts per week. That seems to be the frequency that allows me to enjoy blogging and not let it stress me out. I’m glad you all agree with this post schedule!
I love when you post about:
Wow, this was a SUPER interesting result! I have to admit, occasionally I’ll write about fitness or food to attempt to please “old”readers, but I’m glad to see the things you want to hear are the things I’ve decided to focus on. I think I’ll still continue to have the occasional food, fitness or travel post, but they will be written from the family perspective.
I skip ahead when you post about:
Interesting to see! I totally can see why travel is the most skipped since it’s not always relevant.
Why do you read Live Half Full?
Guys, these answers were SO flattering and gratifying. The overall theme was that my readers are other moms or women who read my blog because I share a real perspective of working motherhood. Mission accomplished!!!
Here were a few of my favorites:
“I love keeping up with real families that are just making life work. I like your down to earth attitude and how you frame things as “this is what works for me,” but not “this is the way everyone should be.”
“You seem to have a great head on your shoulders, share life realistically including ups and downs, are a positive person, have great inspiring ideas on organization and being a working mom. I love reading the posts about your typical day and how you make it work! Also love your organization tips and inspirations (books, people/women, etc).”
What do you want to hear more about in regards to family (motherhood and marriage)?
The funniest comment (thanks for the push!): “Is it even possible to have a second child and still fit in sleep, career, friends and family, etc.? What about when kids get older and have their own activities, etc.”
Overall, the common themes for topics you want to hear about are how to balance everyday life- from making time for myself and my marriage, fun things we do as a family and our routines.
What do you want to hear more about in regards to career?
You all seem like driven people, which I love! There was a strong common theme that you want to hear more about achieving a balance between work and motherhood. Several of you also asked me to write about advancing my career, career development and setting goals for myself. As someone who is pushing towards the next level in my career, I’m happy to write about my experience once I’ve experienced it! 🙂
Do you have any feedback specifically on the My Full Life working motherhood series? (questions, women you want to hear from, etc)
Overall you love the series, which I’m happy to hear since it’ll be continuing through the end of 2018. Most of you expressed that it’s nice to see others in the same boat, which makes me so pleased!
A few of you asked for me to look at things from other perspectives- like the spouse, a SAHM’s perspective on her decision, older moms, single moms, etc. I’m on it and I totally agree those would be great to hear!
One post I took to heart is that “sometimes the interviews seemed more superficial” and looking back I tend to agree. The posts that have gotten the best response have been those with my closest friends since I think they were willing to open up a bit more. Since receiving this comment I’ve been digging in more with the interviews, I hope you’ve seen a change!
What do you want to hear more about in regards to wellness?
You want to hear about the things I think you’ll think are boring but love and I love that! You want to hear more about self care and my routines. I can work with that!
What’s Next for 2018!
In 2018, I’ll continue to focus on my main themes- family, motherhood, marriage, career and wellness. The My Full Life series will continue through the end of 2018 and I have many amazing women lined up to share their perspective. I’ll be dialing those post back to 2-3 per month and sticking to a 2-3 post per week schedule which will work out to approximately 8-12 posts per month.
My goal for 2018 for the blog is to continue to share my unique perspective of motherhood. My hope is always to be real with you all and I’m glad you feel that I am. I will try my best to share more of our day-to-day and family updates, since I do think those have decreased this year which is why you want more!
