I’m in the midst of Thanksgiving prep and feeling in the holiday spirit. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday- a day all about feeling grateful and eating good food with people you love? Perfection.
The holidays for me are always bittersweet. I miss my parents a lot, but I’m constantly reminded of the #1 quality they instilled in me- my positive attitude. That’s why despite whatever life throws at me, I’m the first to find the bright side and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Because it’s true, there is always something to be grateful for.
I hope to pass this attitude along to my family and consider a positive attitude my legacy. Life is good if you work towards appreciating it. So today I am taking some time to be grateful and looking forward to lots of time with family and friends this week!
This year has been quite a roller coaster. As we approach the end of the year, I plan on taking time to reflect and soak in all the lessons from 2017. And for today, I’m thankful for the big and little things.
The Big Things
I’m thankful for my marriage and our family. This year has been all about teamwork. We’ve both been working hard at work to move forward and that’s meant a lot of sacrifices for both of us. Juggling kid logistics is a daily struggle, but we get through every day and end most days with a family dance party. It’s the best.
I’m so lucky to have the friends I do. Nothing makes my day more than the group texts with my High School friends, rare nights out with friends, play dates that come up when you’re feeling desperate to get out of the house and having a rock solid support system.
Our house is a home and I’m grateful for it every day. Thankfully we survived our home flooding this summer and despite the hiccup, I’m still glad we bought our dream house that feels so much like home.
I am grateful to want to go to work every day. I look forward to going to work because of the people I work with and I consider myself very lucky for that. I’m also lucky to feel supported and have longevity in my career.
I’m grateful for my blog! At the end of this year I found a great groove with my blog and I have some new opportunities for 2018 that I’m excited to share soon. Needless to say, I’m motivated and love my little piece of the internet.
The Little Things
I’m also grateful for the little things. The enjoyment of my morning cup of coffee. (and my too often afternoon second cup) The leg hugs from B when I pick him up at daycare every day. Our non-negotiable Sunday morning family time. Climbing into bed with a good book. (and talking about it at my book club) The evenings when we’re able to get out for a date night. Learning to slow down and enjoy the simple moments. I’m grateful for it all!
