I hope you’re feeling refreshed after the weekend! Ours was laid back filled with tag teaming bedtime so Rich and I could get out with friends separately, getting out of the house for church and bagels on Sunday and not much else. I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving next week and up against a work deadline. Today I thought I would share a few of my recent favorites to get us in the holiday spirit.
Clinique Pop Lip Shadow
I bought this lip shadow for my friends’ wedding last month and quickly became obsessed. It stays put all day and makes me feel put together, which is a total win! I’m looking forward to rocking it this holiday season.
Capri Blue Mini Candles
I’m a creature of habit and love my quick bedtime routine. I wash my face, brush my teeth, take a quick bath to wind down and watch Instastories and then hop in bed with a book. In September I purchased a mini pumpkin candle and it seriously brought me so much joy this fall. It’s such a small thing, but I just love the tradition of lighting my mini candle and taking a bath each night before bed. I purchased the pine version and will be pulling it out immediately after Thanksgiving.
Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations
I must have been living under a rock, but I recently learned that Oprah started a podcast over a year ago. I’ve been binging on episodes at work lately and episode 24 with Shauna Niequist struck a major cord with me. It was taped as her book Present Over Perfect was released and the conversation was so good. I loved the part on fake resting, “I’m wearing pajamas… It looks like I’m resting too. But I’m not. I’m ticking down and endless list, sometimes written, always mental, getting things back into their right spots, changing the laundry, wiping down the countertops.” YES. Time to give the book a re-read as it’s feeling especially relatable in my current season of life.
Goodnight June by Sarah Jio
Speaking of books, the cold and rainy weather we’ve been experiencing has me reading a lot. I recently read Goodnight June by Sarah Jio (one of my favorite authors) and thought it was an adorable albeit predictable story about the author of Goodnight Moon. The female lead lives next door to an Italian restaurant and different pastas serve as themes throughout the book and I had to choose it for my December book club meeting so I can order us a Lasagna and call it a day.
Chicken Stock in the Slow Cooker
Last but not least, I made chicken stock last weekend. I’ve been wanting to try for forever and I finally gave this whole chicken in the slow cooker recipe a try followed by stock the next day. It was so easy, so delicious and something I’ll be doing often this winter.
