October was a full month for us. After a season of intentionally scaling back our obligations, I was craving social activities and the month delivered! We filled our time with weddings, parties and lots of fall fun.
The month started with some personal development at my company’s one day women’s summit in Chicago. That evening I also had dinner at Grange Hall Burger Bar with some coworkers and it was fun to get out and talk working motherhood!
That same week I also went to my first blogger event in a very long time. I am super selective with my time, but when I got the opportunity to attend the opening of a new Hanna Andersson location I jumped on it. I picked up Christmas pajamas for B and it was worth going out on a school night.
Weddings lately mean one thing, Date Night! We had a blast celebrating our friends’ Kirsten and David, dressing up and dancing the night away.
The next night, we entered our recipe in our neighborhood’s annual pulled pork cook off hosted by our friends Ryan and Abby. It was a rainy day and B didn’t mind running around one bit in his rain boots entertaining himself.
The following weekend my friend Lindsay won the mom of the year award for cutest toddler Birthday party hosting a “drive in movie” for the kids. They watched “Cars” and sat still thanks to cookies and chips for some adorable pictures.
We celebrated B’s Birthday in a few ways. First, we met up with our friends Denise, Jeremy and Jack at our favorite local Children’s museum. It was our plan B thanks to a rainy day and we arrived to find the train section under construction until the very next day. Nevertheless they boys had fun and afterwards we went out for corned beef sandwiches.
On his actual Birthday we took the day off work and had an epic toddler today. It was so nice to spend time as a family that we plan on making it a family tradition.
The last few days of the month were spent soaking up all things October. We met up with friends for a chilly visit to the pumpkin patch and then went back to Denise and Jeremy’s for dinner and carving.
We also got some family photos taken last weekend by my favorite #momboss photographer, Carissa. I can’t wait to see more!
Last but not least, B got to celebrate Halloween at his new school. We moved him a new daycare closer to home and so far he’s loving it. We are loving the easier commute, more flexibility with drop off and pick up since it’s convenient for both of us and his grandparents are still watching him on Fridays so it works good for everyone!
Recapping the month made me realize how busy it was so no wonder I’m craving some slower times! This month I’m looking forward to settling into our new routine, focusing on getting to the gym, have a few ladies’ nights planned and we’ll host Thanksgiving per usual.
