In years past, I set lofty, aggressive goals (like running a marathon) to keep myself accountable. These days, I’m enjoying making small habit changes to keep my health a focus while not stressing out about it.
I’ve shared a few of these posts throughout the year and thought making this a quarterly series would hold me accountable. Here are a few small habit changes I’ve made lately that have helped impact my overall health.
Joined a new gym
Last month, I joined Lifetime Fitness and have been super happy with the decision. It’s an investment, but the fact that I look forward to going makes it worth it. I’ve enjoyed trying several new classes and B and I have a routine on Saturdays of going to our respective classes at the club, followed by some time in the pool and a smoothie snack.
Started online grocery shopping
Life lately has been hectic and I’ve been able to stick to meal planning which has helped tremendously. I’ve been utilizing ClickList at my local grocery store and it is absolutely worth the $5.00 fee. I’ve been doing my usual Friday pick-up which keeps my weekend mainly free from errands and I love it!
Went to the Doctor for allergy testing
I’ve been struggling with major allergies since my mono in the Spring and went to the Doctor for allergy testing a few weeks ago. We’re still working through a treatment plan, but I have a feeling I’m on the verge of some major lifestyle changes. My immune system took a major hit and in addition to my results I’ve been listening to every podcast and reading every article I can find on allergies and the immune system.
Explored cleaner beauty
Clean beauty is something I had been hearing a lot about but for some reason I was intimated. As someone with sensitive skin, I was hesitant to switch up my routine, but after reading The Wellness Project I decided to aim for the 80/20 approach that’s described in the book.
Earlier in the year I was facing major breakouts, so I started first with the Beauty Counter charcoal bar. I fell in love with the bar and it worked wonders on clearing up my skin and have since switched my skin care to 100% Beauty Counter. From there, I ran all of my products through the Skin Deep database and slowly switched out anything on the high end of the scale that stayed on my body the longest, like my deodorant.
