I hope you had a great long weekend and Fourth of July celebration! Our weekend was a good mix of fun, relaxation and productivity.
This summer so far has been flying by. We’ve been knocking things off our bucket list and took a fun road trip to visit family to kick it off. All in all this season has been good to me and it’s felt nice to slow down.
When I thought about setting goals for the month, I was stumped. I’ve been working my tail off on the career front for the past three months while keeping our household running like clockwork. We survived a busy season and now I’m ready to slow down a bit, have some fun and enjoy summer.
Shifting My Priorities
Over the years, my view on balance has changed a lot. I used to think that balance meant finding a way to make all of the puzzle pieces fit together. These days I live by the motto “you can have it all, just not at once” and I truly believe it.
To get through my busy season at work, I had to prioritize. I intentionally focused on my family and my job and not much else. I met my deadlines, kept our routines running at home and prioritized self care when I could.
Now that the busy season is over, my priorities are shifting. I have some work travel coming up and a major presentation at the end of the month, but overall things have slowed down. I’m able to loosen things up a bit at home by trying new recipes, leaving more free time in our schedule and overall going with the flow. There’s also more time for fun and I’m looking forward to enjoying the summer.
In July, my intention is to counterbalance the busyness of the past few months with more free time, more fun and more focus on taking care of myself.
Finding my Balance
This month I hope to leave more free time in our schedule to enjoy the summer. Buel’s new favorite word is “outside” and I want to follow his lead. I want to maximize all of the time we have as a family and enjoy all of the fun that summer has to offer.
In July I have the flexibility to fit in more exercise and I plan on taking advantage. I’m proud of myself for maintaining my fitness the past three months, but I’m craving more. I’m also craving more homemade meals and more vegetables now that I have time to make them.
Last but not least, I hope to write one blog post per week this month. (look for new posts on Wednesday mornings!) I loved having a break, but I do love writing and want to continue. I have started the re-branding process and I have so many ideas that I can’t wait to share in the Fall. For now, my goal is to continue checking items off my summer bucket list and sharing along the way!
What are your goals this month?
