You may have noticed things have been a bit quieter on here lately and I would expect things to stay that way for the next few weeks. As life goes, with only five weeks left to my due date there is a lot going out and life seems to be compounding upon itself.
Last week we finally heard some progress with our short sale house buying process and met with our relator this weekend to go over what we need to do to start prepping our condo for sale. We still have no idea when or if we got the house, but in the meantime we are preparing our condo for sale so that when we hear we are ready to go. Meanwhile, I’m in my busy season at work trying to do as much as I can before my leave and trying to stay as calm as possible to keep myself healthy in the process.
As expected my bump keeps getting bigger and bigger as the baby grows and I’m constantly wondering how he’ll have more room to grow. He’s officially facing head down according to my doctor and his butt is more often than not sticking out of my stomach which is pretty entertaining. Not to mention the kicks and squirms I’m feeling constantly- he’s crazy active all the time!
Symptom wise I’m feeling really great besides the fact that I am exhausted, more mentally than physically. I’m doing the best to take things day by day and keeping my priorities in check, which seems to be helping. Overall I feel very lucky that my pregnancy is going so smoothly, especially in the end, and I am proud of the job I’ve done to take care of myself. So far I’ve gained 29 pounds which is within the healthy range my doctor recommended and things are looking good- which is all we can hope for!
Here’s a recap of a very basic Monday after a busy weekend- I was in survival mode and my goal was to get through the day!
Mornings continue to be rushed as I am sleeping in as late as I can, but most mornings I leave myself at least a little bit of time to ease into the day. Monday morning I made a new-to-me Cinnamon Roll Smoothie and Coffee to start my day, which hit the spot and got me going. I have no food aversions these days and very little cravings besides basic comfort foods. I think this may be a stress reaction but I’m also barely hungry- not a lot of room left in my stomach with the baby taking it over!
Right now at work I’m in planning mode which means that a lot of my days are spent in back to back meetings and other days are spent doing tedious work as I build out my Marketing Plans. With my due date approach and my plan deadline very shortly after that, I’m doing my best to build out my plans before I go on leave. I blocked off my Monday calendar to start my plan building and have done that for several days leading up to my due date to hopefully keep myself on track. It worked and Monday I plowed through a ton of work- with a short break for a PB&J and Doritos as lunch from the cafeteria. Not the healthiest, but it hit the spot and fulfilled my Dorito’s craving- which I actually had a dream about the night before.
Snacks are super important to keeping my energy up and small, protein packed ones seem to be working best for my body lately. I’m back on my apple a day schedule now that it’s almost Fall and I forgot how filling they are- this snack definitely kept me full until dinner!
For dinner on Monday Rich was home to help whip up one of our old favorites, Cheeseburger Salads, and I fit in a quick 10 minute arm workout by doing these moves, minus the video since I’ve done it so many times I have it memorized! Full body workouts are a little more tough now, so focusing on arms, walking and yoga has been my plan lately and I’m feeling good about it! Heck, I’m just happy I’m doing something at 35 weeks pregnant- which is not something I think everyone can say!
After dinner I settled onto the couch to work on my baby shower thank you notes. My last shower had over fifty people in attendance and we’ve also been getting a steady stream of presents in the mail, so I’ve been working diligently at night to get my thank you notes written and out this week!
We have been making rest a priority and getting to bed early most nights. Since I toss and turn a lot throughout the night I appreciate and *knock on wood* I’m not as exhausted as last week. My body seems to be getting used to waking up throughout the night and falling back asleep quickly- aka training for when the baby arrives!
So there you have it, a lot going on surrounding my pregnancy but overall I’m feeling good! This weekend I’m focusing on getting the nursery ready and I have a few other big to-dos on my list before I’ll feel prepared. I’m hoping that by getting as prepared as I can the next few weeks the last few weeks I can focus on work and resting. We shall see!
