This weekend was a whirlwind and has me feeling a bit wiped out today, but it was one of those weekends that left me feeling grateful so I had to stop in and share.
I took the day off on Friday, so I eased into the day. I had to take Penny to the vet for her monthly injection and after that I took her on a nice, long walk before packing for Michigan. Later in the afternoon I met up with my friends Liz and Jason to tag along on their drive to Michigan. Rich stayed back this trip to work on homework, so I was happy to have friends to drive with instead. It made the drive much more fun and we spent the majority of the time playing the “I’m Going On A Picnic” game. Does anyone remember that?
I arrived to my Dad’s just after he had gone to bed, but he was awake enough to look at my belly and say, “weird.” It cracked me up!
Saturday morning I picked up iced cappuccinos and donuts to head to meet my best friend Stephanie’s new baby boy! I only got to stay for less than an hour, but that was enough time to get to meet the little man and catch up. It’s so nice to being going though this phase of life together! We’ve known each other since we were 16 and 15, so it’s pretty fun to look back on all of the things we’ve been through together. I would say we turned out well.
In the afternoon I attend my first wedding shower of the season. It was at my Mom’s best friend’s house, the mother of the groom, in honor of the bride-to-be Caitlin who’s marrying the youngest of their family. In other words, they are like my second family. The wedding happens to fall on the same day as one of Rich’s best friend’s weddings that he’s standing up in, so I wanted to make sure I was able to at least attend the shower to wish them well!
Again, talk about knowing someone for a long time- I’ve known the groom since he was about three years old! His older sister Valerie is one of my dear friends and we met in Kindergarden, he was the tiniest little toddler and now he’s getting married. Crazy!
The shower was beautiful and I was impressed by his other sister’s Lisa’s craftwork. She recently discovered Pinterest, and even though she said “she overcommitted,” I thought everything turned out fabulously!
My Saturday night was spent on my Dad’s comfiest couch reading The Girl on The Train. At one point he even brought me some chocolate chip cookies, so it was pretty much the most wild Saturday night ever. I nerded out and finished the ENTIRE book! It was that good.
Sunday morning after a quick breakfast out with my Dad, I met up with my friends again to make the trip back. We arrived early enough for me to have time to prepare for the week and spend the evening relaxing and grilling with Rich.
Phew, a busy weekend indeed!
How was your weekend? Has wedding and baby season started for you?
