This morning I’m joining in with my friend Becky’s Treat Yourself Tuesday link-up! Why did it take me so long to join in the fun? That’s a good question…

Well, you see I’m not typically someone who spends a ton of money on herself. Actually, I’m probably the last person I spend my money on. BUT, self care is something that I’ve learned is super important in the last few years and there are lots of little things I do regularly to treat myself!

One random thing I treated myself to lately was new pajamas. For some reason, having nice pajamas makes me happy every single night and I feel a little extra snazzy going to sleep in a match PJ set like this one I bought at Target rather than Rich’s old Rugby shirts from college. I also take a bath almost every single night and it’s nice to continue the relaxing feeling by slipping into my cute pajamas.

Two more things I regularly treat myself with? Fresh flowers and library books! I buy flowers almost every weekend from the 3 for $12 section at Mariano’s- this gives me enough to put some on our dining room table, on my bedside table and in both of our bathrooms. Having fresh flowers makes me so happy! Also, I have become a born again reader and have read 3-4 books per month this year. It’s such a nice way to shut down at night and is something I look forward to every day.

Another important part of treating myself every day? FOOD! This week I made this Crunchy Quinoa Granola which was the perfect afternoon snack at work that I looked forward to all day. We’re in our busy season at work, so a ten minute break to eat my snack is all that I needed to stay sane yesterday. Also- I bought myself a new bowl and plate to keep at my desk along with some real silverware. This is something I learned in the Intuitive Eating Challenge and have kept up with- it makes such a huge difference when eating at work and truly makes my meals and snacks feel like treats!

Last but not least and most importantly, scheduling time with my loved ones keeps my weeks a treat. Little date nights, even if it’s just a short walk with Rich and Penny or a quick glass of wine with a girlfriend or even a phone call with a family member or friend makes my week so much better. I love having these things to look forward to while I’m slaving away at my desk. (even though, I really do love my job and I don’t mind working hard!)

    • How often are you up north these days? If you drive we should meet for happy hour so you can beat traffic… my new office is only about 15 minutes down the road!

  3. I need some new PJs too! Every night I go to bed dreading the articles of clothing I throw on that don’t match and aren’t comfortable!

  4. What is it about using real plates and silverware? I’m curious because I eat out of tupperware every day for lunch!
