WIAW: My New Food Processor

On Sunday, I finally opened the Food Processor we got as a wedding gift.

My only regret? That I did not open it earlier! Good thing is, I made up for lost time.

homemade peanut butter

First up, I made some homemade peanut butter. I followed this recipe and it couldn’t have been easier!

To make your own, you will need:
1 pound shelled roasted peanuts
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 teaspoons honey
1 1/2 Tablespoons peanut oil

Then, get to work!
-Place the peanuts, salt and honey into the bowl of the food processor.
-Process for 1-2 minutes until combined.
-Take off the lid, scrape down the sides of the bowl and then place the lid back on.
-Continue to process while slowly drizzling in the oil and process until the mixture is smooth, for about 3-5 minutes. –Store in a airtight jar for up to 2 months.

Next up, homemade hummus!

I’ve been wanting to make my own hummus for a long time and have had this recipe saved. I definitely had to make it the first time I used my food processor!

You will need:
2 cans garbanzo beans
2 cloves garlic
3 Tablespoons Tahini
Zest and juice of one lemon
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
Pinch of red pepper flakes
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
3 Tablespoons fresh parsley
3 Tablespoons fresh dill
3 Tablespoons fresh basil

To make:
-In your food processor combine the beans, garlic, tahini, lemon zest and juice, salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes and pulse to combine.
-With the motor running, stream in the olive oil and stop at desired smoothness.
-Add the herbs and pulse to combine.
-Enjoy!

As always, thanks Jenn for the WIAW party!

What about you-do you have a food processor? Have you made any fun new recipes this week? Any recipes you want to share with me?

Comments

  1. Yum! We’ve had a food processor for 3 years now (since we got married) and I’ve yet to make a butter or hummus! I use it mostly for soups and salsa. Those look really yummy though!

  2. Take a cup of nuts and a cup of dried fruit and combine them in the food processor to make homemade Lara Bars. Ifit is too dry to stick together add a few drops of water.
Do banana soft serve too. One frozen banana and a date combined until they are the consistency of soft serve.

  3. I need a food processor sooooo bad!!

  4. I love my food processor! It’s just a little one but it makes things so much easier in the kitchen! I’m glad you finally got yours open.

  5. I love my food processor and use it at least once a week. Nut butters, hummus, most of my nut or granola bars like homemade LARABARS, protein bars, and tons of kiddo food!
