Scenes from my Couch

Yesterday, I wrote a thrilling post about what I’ve been eating while I’ve been on the mend. (spoiler alert: way too much)

Today, I thought I would share what I’ve been doing while I’ve been recuperating my back. It’s equal thrilling.

valentines

Today, I addressed my Valentine’s to go in the mail tomorrow! I love sending them, even if it’s super cheesy. I love to show my friends some love on the best of the Hallmark Holidays!

I’ve also watched countless movies. In the past few days I think I’ve watched on average three movies a day. Today’s choices were He’s Just Not That Into You and Moulin Rogue.

Today’s view from my window was extra beautiful. I think this was honestly the first time in years I stopped and watch the snow fall for a few minutes.

laundry room

I’ve gotten way antsy being cooped up at home and have done a few small origination projects around the house. Today, I reorganized our laundry room. Well, kind of. Rich brought everything down from the shelves and I reorganized it and put it back up.

I think I’ve gone into full on nesting mode.

penne rosa

Just incase you need more proof, here’s the dinner I made tonight. This recipe was awesome! I’ve been making way more elaborate dinners than usual, but I have to admit I’ve enjoyed it.

I’ve also been sleeping a lot, reading a lot, organizing my life a lot and straight up resting. Today was the first time without my pain medication and so far so good! I’m feeling much better and really excited to return to the gym and the office at the beginning of next week.

Have you ever been forced to stay at home to recoup from an injury? Have you done anything extra thrilling like I have the past few days? What are your plans for the upcoming weekend?

  1. I love the cards!!! I hope you are feeling better, Katie! Being cooped up is no fun! I’ve been laying low due to being sick & haven’t been doing much else besides work. No fun!

  2. I love your cards! This is one of those moments where I think, “Why didn’t I do that?!” Too cute of you.

I’m actually injured right now, something pulled in my shoulder. It’s SO annoying. I tried to do some yoga today and even that was a stretch, literally. I just wanted a good solid cardio workout, but I think rest is in order. I hate having to take a break, but I supose we all have to sometime. Hope you are fully recovered by next week!

    • Oh man! I totally know the feeling. I’m much better today but a little stiff and sore. I cannot WAIT to get back to the gym. I’m starting on Sunday with some yoga. :)

  3. So happy to hear you are feeling better and your week of rest is working! Sigh. I love Moulin Rouge. It was one of my fave movies in high school :)

  4. Love that you send cards in the mail! I wish more people did that!

  5. PS– I think we are “neighbors” You a northern suburban girl?? I’ve run many of the same races you have!!

  6. I am such a sucker for those sappy love movies – I have yet to see Moulin Rogue though, which needs to happen ASAP!

  7. Having a week to just rest and relax sounds so awesome when you can’t do it, but I know it’s really hard when you’re forced to rest and stay in! I love “He’s Just Not That Into You,” even though it’s kind of bad. But I’ve read the book several times, and always watch the movie when I see it on cable. I hope you’re starting to feel better!

  8. I also send out Valentine’s to all of my family and friends! I love it :) I go insane when I have to stay inside for multiple days in a row. Last January I had to stay home from work (I fainted at work and my manager freaked out and made me stay home for a week, haha!) and I watched every season of SATC and cleaned my entire condo. By the end I actually WANTED to get back to work!

  9. Yay! I’m so happy you liked the Penne Rosa. It’s one of my favorites. :) And I LOVE the idea of sending out Valentine’s! I need to do that. :)
